Students earn three units of USC elective college credit upon successful completion of this four-week, immersive program taught by USC faculty.
The USC Pre-College Discover Engineering program offers high school students an immersive, four-week experience into various engineering disciplines. Participants engage in academic lectures and hands-on projects, applying design thinking and the engineering design process to real-world problems. Activities include designing, building, and testing solutions, such as launching rockets, programming robots, using 3D printers, and designing bridges. Students will also learn to conduct research, write research papers based on engineering concepts, and present and defend their project outcomes. The program aims to provide a preview of college-level engineering studies and helps students develop computational thinking, engineering design skills, and teamwork through design teams. Field trips to relevant sites in Los Angeles offer insights into the challenges and opportunities faced by professional engineers.
Participants attend class from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day, with breaks for lunch or field trips in Los Angeles. Evenings include residential activities and free afternoons can be spent studying or at the gym.
This program is ideal for high schoolers who have considered studying engineering in college and want to gain practical experience and a preview of college-level coursework.

Los Angeles STEM Summer Camps is a free directory service that aggregates publicly available information about STEM programs, summer camps, and educational opportunities. We do not operate, sponsor, endorse, accredit, certify, or have any affiliation with the camps and programs listed here unless explicitly stated.
All program details — including pricing, session dates, instructor credentials, curriculum, safety policies, refund terms, transportation, meal arrangements, and admission requirements — are sourced from publicly available information and may be incomplete, outdated, or incorrect. Listings are partially generated and updated using automated AI-assisted research, which can occasionally produce inaccurate details. Parents and guardians are solely responsible for independently verifying every detail directly with the camp before enrolling, paying, or relying on any information shown here.
