About this camp

This two-week Aerospace Engineering program at UCLA offers high school students an immersive experience into the world of flight and space. Students will explore the fundamentals of flight mechanics, aerodynamics, propulsion systems, and aircraft/spacecraft design through interactive lessons and hands-on projects. A core component of the program involves engaging in design challenges, culminating in the creation and launch of their own glider or rocket. The curriculum also delves into the key differences between aeronautical and astronautical engineering, utilizing basic orbital mechanics. Beyond classroom learning, students gain valuable career insights through visits to leading aerospace companies and organizations, such as NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory and The Aerospace Corporation, and by hearing from experienced industry professionals. The program aims to foster critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a deeper understanding of real-world applications in modern flight technology.

What a typical day looks like

During week one, students have class from 9am-12pm Monday-Friday. During week two, students have class from 9am-12pm Monday-Thursday. Wednesday afternoons of each week are dedicated to course-specific academic excursions, guest speakers, or activities.
