About this camp

The National Student Leadership Conference (NSLC) Aerospace Program at UCLA offers high school students an immersive pre-college experience focused on aviation and space engineering. Participants engage in hands-on projects, such as designing and building an unmanned aerial vehicle and creating components for a Mission to Mars, applying the engineering design process from initial concept to testing. The curriculum explores aerodynamics, propulsion mechanics, and flight control systems, providing a strong foundation in aerospace engineering principles and their application to real-world challenges. The program also includes visits to industry leaders like NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, SpaceX, and Northrop Grumman, as well as the UCLA Samueli School of Engineering and the California Science Center. Students gain insights from guest speakers and develop leadership skills through workshops on communication, collaboration, and resilience. The NSLC partners with IEEE and the IEEE TryEngineering Summer Institute to enhance the interdisciplinary engineering education.
