The Global Problem Solvers Institute (GPSI) is a 12-week virtual innovation lab where high school students collaborate on group projects to address complex global challenges. Students apply design and systems-thinking principles, develop university-level research and writing skills, and receive guidance from university faculty. The program emphasizes interdisciplinary thinking and collaborative design to craft solutions for real-world problems. Participants gain hands-on experience in problem-solving, leadership, teamwork, and critical thinking, preparing them for college and beyond. Successful completion of the program can earn students two college credits from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Each week, scholars participate in two synchronous live sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings (60 minutes each) and a 90-minute class on Saturdays. Additionally, students engage in an average of 4.5 hours per week of asynchronous learning and assignments that can align with their personal schedules.
