About this camp

Camp Asimov is an intensive robotics and engineering summer program where each student designs, builds, and programs their own robot. The program emphasizes hands-on practice with mechanical design, CAD, programming in Java, wiring, sensors, mechanisms, testing, and engineering documentation. Students gain skills in designing parts in CAD, assembling drivetrains, wiring core electronics, writing and testing robot code, troubleshooting failures, and improving designs through iterative testing. The curriculum progresses through Foundations, Intermediate, and Advanced levels, allowing students to move from understanding physical robots to programming control, design, and integrated autonomous systems. Beyond robot building, the camp also incorporates supervised drone flying, strategy games, and group activities to create a fun and social learning environment.

What a typical day looks like

A typical day includes a mission briefing, an engineering block for CAD, fabrication, wiring, programming, or mechanism work, a test loop to run and revise the robot, lunch, an integration block to connect hardware, software, and mechanisms, and a final demo and build log.

Best suited for

Camp Asimov is ideal for students ages 10-17 who are excited by building, making, troubleshooting, and understanding how robots work, and who are ready for focused, hands-on daily build work.
