Bruins on Water uniquely combines interactive marine science education with fundamental instruction and practice in multiple on-water activities at the UCLA Marina Aquatic Center.
Bruins on Water offers an exciting summer experience where science meets the sea for campers aged 7-10 (entering 2nd-5th grade in Fall 2026). Participants will delve into marine science through engaging, interactive experiments and a variety of on-water activities. Under the guidance of trained staff, campers will learn the fundamentals of sailing, kayaking, and stand-up paddleboarding in Marina del Rey, putting their new skills to the test with fun games and challenges. The program balances water-based adventures with land-based instruction, additional science experiments, and art activities. Campers will gain confidence in water sports, develop an understanding of the Pacific Ocean's wonders, and enhance their teamwork and sportsmanship. A swim requirement ensures all participants are water safe, minimally able to swim 25 consecutive yards and tread water for one minute.
A typical day includes drop-off from 8:30 AM - 9:00 AM, followed by camp programming from 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM, and pick-up from 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM.
This camp is ideal for elementary school-aged children (7-10) who are eager to explore marine science and engage in hands-on water sports like sailing, kayaking, and stand-up paddleboarding.
